Manufacturing Medical Products with 3D Printing for Use in COVID-19 Pandemic
According to the findings, Covid-19 virus shows that it is transmitted from person to person quickly and there may be huge problems in the health system if protective measures are not taken for health workers. Many health workers are infected because they do not have enough protective equipment such as a face shield. Our method is to use the open source printing program with the STL file converted to Gcode and uploaded to the printer for 3D printing production of face shields. The object is produced by extrusion of molten material to form layers as it hardens immediately after extrusion from the nozzle in 4 hours with filament types which are ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) and PLA (Polylactic acid). The production process includes getting the opensource Gcodes, installing the related programs, load the desired model to the printer, production of the object with filament, adjustments of the model on the printer, finishing printing job, make some facilitating operations, and ready to deliver. With 3D printing technology, it is important to produce an environmentally friendly face shield, which will prevent contamination of the virus, take oxygen easily, clean it when necessary, and replace the screen with a transparent plate that is found everywhere.
